I don't think I am alone in saying that Monday mornings can be tough, but I absolutely love Sunday nights. They are my time and I find if I make them particularly nice then my Monday mornings are a little easier.

Last week I started back at school, it felt really good to get back, see my students and get started. I followed that with an amazing weekend of time with my high school friends celebrating a 30th (a little scary that the 30th's are starting…) and spent this morning with my niece and nephew who seem years older every time I see them.

It has become a priority of mine lately that amongst all this wonderful time spent with loved ones that I make sure I have down time and take some time to look after myself. Sunday nights are the perfect time for me to do this, I rarely have plans, and I just find it sets me up for the week nicely.

After I finish this post I will be putting my laptop away and switching my phone to Do Not Disturb (another favourite addition to my nightly routine). I try and do a face mask and paint my nails and then meditate or just relax with a book.

On tonight's agenda is Origins Drink Up-Intensive Overnight mask, I don't really feel like this is a mask, it's more of an incredibly hydrating moisturiser, but I still feel like I've pampered myself when I use it, it smells great and my skin feels lovely the next morning. Then I'm going to paint my nails in an old favourite, Bahama Mama by Essie is the perfect purple/maroon hybrid. Not the most Summer-y of colours but I love dark toenail polish all year, so I'm justifying it.

On the reading list at the moment is Breakfast at Tiffany's. A classic that I have never gotten around to reading before, or seeing the movie for that matter. And I have to say, so far it's not really what I expected, and I realised that although I have seen so many iconic images from the film, I really had very little knowledge of the storyline. But it's short and easy to read so I thought it would be a perfect Sunday night book. Something that isn't Sunday night specific but I love so much that I thought was worth a mention is my Smith's Minted Rose lip balm. It's wonderful, it smells amazing and hydrates beautifully.

Do you make sure that you spend some down time looking after yourself? It's something I never used to think to do and now find so important.

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and have an amazing week ahead.

  1. Your Sunday night ritual sounds lovely. In our home I make sure everyone gets time to themselves, even if they think they don't need it (me included!) My time to myself has increasingly involved just sitting still with my thoughts. No pens and lists, no books, not doing anything. Just listening to my thoughts and trying to hush them to concentrate on my breathing. My rituals have become about embracing the silence and the still. Have a wonderful week Zoe xoxox

  2. Great choice of book and I love the colour of the nail varnish :)

I love your beauty choices! That Origins mask is my favorite and Bahama Mama is a lovely color. I have yet to read Breakfast at Tiffany's (I adore the movie), but now I'm inspired to do so :)
I also try to have quiet Sunday nights in! Recently, I've been making a continuous effort to get off my laptop and spend more time reading and pampering myself.
